A: No, Cerakote will stick to many different types of surfaces including: metals, plastics, polymers and wood. Here at Johnson Customs LLC, we have the ability to complete orders of single items from one customer as well as large quantities of items from a manufacturer.
Q: Am I able to ship firearms to Johnson Customs for Cerakote?
A: Yes, we are able to receive firearms from most states in the United States. If you are shipping a firearm check with local and state regulations before shipping. Handguns cannot be shipped via United States Postal Service. All mail carriers must be notified that a firearm is contained in the package for compliance with Federal regulation.
Q: How do I place an order?
A: Feel free to call Johnson Customs at 541-729-9804 and we will help you with every step of the process. You can also e-mail us at Johnsoncustoms.firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include a picture of the item and what you are looking to have done and a color scheme. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.
Q: What is my firearm/item subject to when I send it in to be Cerakoted?
A: The process starts with complete disassembly. Once the firearm/item is disassembled completely, the firearm/item is placed in a degreasing tank. Then the parts original coating is removed and the part is heated for the adhesion process. Once it is at the desired temperature the Cerakote is applied. Firearms/items will then be baked. Temperatures vary depending on material but will not be subject to temperatures higher than 250 degree Fahrenheit bake cycles. Temperature sensitive items such as scopes, flashlights, sunglasses, etc. will be coated with C-series Cerakote which is a catalyzed series of Cerakote that air cures. At Johnson Customs LLC we strive to ensure every gun is cared for like its our own. We pay special attention to maintaining the integrity of the crown on the barrel.
Q: Do I need to send my firearm/item disassembled?
A: No, we are able to do the complete disassembly ourselves. However you can save money if you feel comfortable with the disassembly/assembly portion of the process. Check our price sheets for assembled verses disassembled pricing. Firearms/items that we receive disassembled will be shipped back disassembled. If you send us an item disassembled be sure to include a complete list of all parts sent in the shipment.
Q: What temperatures does Cerakote withstand?
A: H-Series Cerakote can withstand temperatures up to 400 degrees fahrenheit. C-Series Cerakote will withstand temperatures up to 1700 degrees fahrenheit and is great for high temperature applications such as automotive exhausts.
